Next Meeting

The Costa Press Club meets on average every two months at different venues on the western Costa del Sol, usually with a dinner and sometimes with guest speakers or special events. Guests and potential new members are welcome (contact any committee member). If you have an idea for a venue or guest speaker, please let us know. Details of the next scheduled meeting are outlined below.

WRITING AND PUBLISHING UNDER THE MICROSCOPE

The next Costa Press Club meeting is in central Málaga.

When – Tuesday 20 February at 7.15pm (for 7.45pm start)

What – Writing and publishing under the microscope, a talk by three published authors: Joan Fallon, Nick Foster and Katie Lewis. All have experience of the publishing world and will be sharing their good and bad experiences of transforming an idea into a manuscript and then into a “real” book.

Venue La Alvaroteca, Calle Gerona 38 (Google map link here and instructions below). Chef Álvaro Ávila is at the helm of this unsung restaurant in Málaga where Michelin-star dining comes at wallet-friendly prices. Taste sensations and innovative cuisine are the watchwords in food that take their roots from Málaga and Jaén.

Price – €30 members (including Club member subsidy for all paid-up members), €40 guests

Please confirm your attendance as soon as possible to info@costapressclub.com and in any case before noon on Monday 19 February. Late cancellations (i.e. after noon on Monday 19 February) and no shows will be charged the full amount.

Pay in cash on the night or by bank transfer in advance. If you pay by bank transfer, please do so before Friday 16 February to allow funds to reach the Club bank account in time.

The Talk

Our panel of authors will discuss the challenges of publishing, how they overcome writer’s block, and other ins and outs of writing. Each author will speak about their experiences and there will be time for questions at the end.

  • Joan Fallon is a Costa Press Club member and author of 17 published books.
  • Nick Foster is also a Club member and the author of two true crime books.
  • Katie Lewis is the author of “A Curse of Love and Law”, the first instalment of her upcoming series.

The team at La Alvaroteca will be serving the following menu:

  • Ensaladilla de Gambas
