Journalists as Lifesavers: Communication and Crisis Management in Emergencies

This was the title of the talk given at the November meeting of the Costa Press Club by Fernando Fernández Alcaide, a journalist and expert in crisis management.

The talk, at La Sierra restaurant in Cerro del Águila, centred on the real risks of major catastrophes on the Costa del Sol (such as earthquakes or tsunamis), and the advantages and dangers of social media, and gave some useful tools for information and emergency management, with examples of disasters and situations where communication has played a vital role in civil protection.
