Summer Party & Open Mic: On the Wild Side at Bioparc, Fuengirola

For this year's Summer Party and Open Mic, the Costa Press Club will be going wild in the beautiful tropical gardens and terrace of Bioparc Café in Fuengirola. Dinner with all drinks included, Open Mic ('Open Jaw'), and complimentary access to Bioparc's popular Summer Nights late-opening.

For this year’s Summer Party and Open Mic, the Costa Press Club will be going wild in the beautiful tropical gardens and terrace of Bioparc Café in Fuengirola. This should be a fun evening guaranteed to launch us into the summer break.

We have also negotiated for you with Bioparc complimentary access to its popular Summer Nights late-opening as part of the event.

When?

Monday, 6 July. Dinner and main meeting on Bioparc Café terrace from 8pm.

(Access available from 7pm onwards with optional tour just for us - see below; please come for this early part if you can.)

At 10pm: Mammals and Birds night show (optional). Park closes 11pm.

Where?

Bioparc Fuengirola. Easy access, a couple of minutes off the A-7, Miramar shopping centre exit, then beachside following signs.

Half-price parking at Telpark Parking Plaza de España - by the town hall, a couple of hundred metres away. (Collect the discount voucher on leaving Bioparc.)

Just 10 minutes’ walk from Fuengirola train station. Trains until close to midnight.

Bioparc is compact to walk around and the restaurant is 50 metres or so from the entrance.

What?

Warm-up tour at 7pm just for the Club. This is optional but highly recommended and we very much hope that most people will try to make it. Depart front entrance promptly at 7pm - get there a few minutes before. The tour will be in Spanish but we will offer English key-points summaries as needed, and it is of course very visual anyway.

Main event from 8pm: Cocktail-style supper with all drinks included on the Café terrace. Price (including the courtesy park admissions and show): Members €28, Guests €38.

Followed by Open Mic (for this year only renamed… ‘Open Jaw’)

As usual, we would like a few members to let us know what they have been up to, tell us about a project they are working on or share a point of view on an issue. English or Spanish. Please book your 5-minute slot in advance.

10pm: Everyone who wants to stay on is invited by Bioparc to attend the night show (mammals and birds) once the sun has gone down.

Why?

As most will know, Bioparc has won international acclaim for its conservation and wildlife protection work and plaudits for the quality of the environment. This year it marks 25 years on the Costa. On the TripAdvisor rating website it is rated by users as the fourth best thing to see on the Costa del Sol (after Malaga’s Alcazaba, Cueva de Nerja and Marbella Old Town). The new (largely indoor) South America section with a focus on discovery and exploration is particularly interesting for those who have not been for a while. The night visits in July and August are especially different and admission to this (which we receive as courtesy) is normally some 20 euros per person.

Guests: Up to one guest per person permitted. Guest numbers may subsequently be limited if we see high demand, so reserve early.
